Public Information for Lead Service Line Test Pit and Service Replacement Project:
The Borough of Red Bank is excited to share important information about an upcoming project that will contribute to the improvement of our community’s water infrastructure. Our Borough has always been committed to providing safe and reliable water services to our residents, and this project is a significant step towards ensuring the continued well-being of our community.
Project Overview:
The proposed project involves conducting approximately 1,000 test pits to assess the material composition of water service lines connecting residences to the main water supply. This crucial investigation will enable us to better understand the state of our water delivery system and ensure the highest quality water reaches your homes.
Furthermore, we are proud to announce the replacement of approximately 290 lead service lines with new copper service lines. These upgrades will extend from the water main to the curb stop or from the curb stop to the water meter inside buildings. Our aim is to enhance the safety and reliability of water delivery, prioritizing the health of our residents.
Restoration and Documentation:
We understand that any construction activity can cause temporary disruptions. Rest assured, the excavation of trenches and test pits will be carried out with utmost care and consideration. Once the project is complete, all excavation sites will be meticulously restored to their previous condition, ensuring minimal impact on the aesthetics of our neighborhoods.
In addition, the documentation of service line materials will provide us with valuable insights into our water system’s integrity, helping us make informed decisions for future improvements.
Community Partnership:
We believe that a strong community is built on transparency and collaboration. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has approved assistance for this project under the New Jersey Water Bank (NJWB), highlighting our commitment to upholding environmental standards and promoting sustainable practices.
Investing in Our Future:
The project was awarded to Montana Construction Corp. Inc. for $2,686,750, with the same amount secured as a loan from the New Jersey Water Bank. This investment showcases our dedication to ensuring clean and safe water for generations to come. We firmly believe that the benefits to our community’s health, safety, and overall quality of life will far outweigh the initial financial commitment and help us remove lead from our water system by 2031.
Stay Informed:
We are dedicated to keeping you informed every step of the way. Regular updates will be posted on our Borough website, and we encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
Together, we are taking proactive measures to enhance our water infrastructure, provide safe drinking water, and secure a brighter future for our Borough. We thank you for your understanding, patience, and support as we embark on this important journey
